Our STORY

The Swing Junkies was started by a bunch of technical guys in the IBM Canada Lab back in the late 1980’s. We were a rock band in those days and we played company functions just for fun.

Over the years after being introduced to the sounds of the classic jazz era through the great songs of Frank, Ella and Chet and the beautiful swinging playing of Miles Davis and Bill Evans we embarked on the jazz journey and became the Swing Junkies.

This journey has included many different players and also notable teachers such as Al Gorman and Michael Occhipinti whose expansive workshops at the RCM have been challenging and illuminating.

We are available to play private and public events, like most recently the Port Union Summer Concert series and the Scarborough Ribfest.
